Surgeon's visit

The surgeon came by a short while ago to check on Tina's progress. He seemed quite pleased and expects to be releasing her tomorrow assuming no set-backs appear over night. While here, he showed us the MRI scans from before the surgery. It is much clearer than the CAT scans and makes it really obvious just how big this thing was. He said it was "about as big as these things get" and would have been growing for years to achieve that size. We asked about getting copies and he said he would have a CD of the images made for us to have at our next office visit in about a week. He is about as nice and down to earth person as you would ever want to meet with none of the super-man affect that seems to be the reputation of surgeons in general.

So we are hoping for an uneventful night and springing Tina out of here tomorrow. We'll keep you posted.

  4. Tina:

Melanie and I have been following your progress on this blog this week. You look great, and we join you and yours in giving thanks that you have come through this journey with such success and gusto.

You always have done superbly and artfully everything I have ever seen you do. So, of course, it is no surprise that you have come through this incredibly challenging experience with flying colors, too! :-)

I was touched by the report on this blog about your concern that what defines who YOU are might be adversely affected by the surgery. We knew that could never happen.

    Why?

Because if that had even remotely been a possibility, then you would have extricated yourself from the problem through artful negotiation only to have the "interloper" begging for mercy in the end. For surely it must now be clear that this tumor ill-advisedly messed with the wrong mind.

We cannot wait until you are back, but we WILL wait. :-) In the meantime, please let your family do the heavy lifting and thinking while you rebuild your strength.

Sending much love and prayer your way,
